02/02/2002 - Crestview Ride.  Wonderful weather. Our fearless leader showed all the visitors just how not to tackle a very small "speed bump".  Luckily, he comes staffed his his own Pit Crew.  The visitors received great instructions on how not to be "grocery getters" in Wal-Mart parking lots.  And to show his devotion to the visitors, Paul turned his Jeep over!  What a great leader he is!!!!  Nice turn out.  6 Jeeps & 7 visitors.

Chet Szymecki FINALLY applied to the Club.  Actually - he begged.  Hey Chet - Cash Helps!!!!!!  We are a little concerned with "...the other 2 voices in his head.....".  After MUCH debate & a few minor stipulations -
1 - "Shut up Chet & pay the dues"
2 - "Must lead a ride from Winn Dixie to Subway"
3 - "Must use a Jeep while doing so"
4 - "Wash Nancy's Jeep"
5 - "Must buy all current members "Shut up, Chet" stickers
- the Club voted him in.   Welcome Aboard, Chet!!!

A camping trip was discussed.  The Club decided to schedule  a camping trip/discovery ride for June.

Review of previous months activities:

05/04/02 - Eglin ride was postponed until 5/11/02 due to  weather.  4 Jeeps attended on the 11th.  Glen Greenough &Chris Gahimer Co-lead.  Very dry ride - no mud to speak of. Chris Gahimer had a minor problems not enough to hold up the ride.  Hey Luan - Ever heard of a spare?

Norm Kessler  TJ

Treasurer's Report:

Thanks to Donna for finding the 'missing checks'.  Mike praised Ed for a job well done and found the Enron factor working just fine.just kidding.  The books balanced.

Minutes were read and approved.

Old Business:

Dues - With only three members still outstanding, I can say we have had a banner year for membership.  We know who you are, just remember your excuse and $5 late fee!

Ride July 6th - 7 members and 8 visitors went to Crestview.  All had good ride and a good time.  Many were nervous, as they were first time off-roaders in the group.  They all did well, Jay had them all itching for more by the end of the ride.  Jay has spoken with the owners and knows where it is OK to ride and what areas to avoid.  Sounds like we are lucky to have the trail, let's keep up the good image we have!!

Event July 13th - 4 members and 5 visitors attended the Blue Angel Beach Event.  Traffic made for a bad time at the start of the show.  Nearly double the traffic of last year and the selected parking areas were full even at 8:30 AM!  The trade off was to go a little further down the beach, making for a nicer view of the air show and all eventually had a good time.

New Business:

July 27th - Did you see it on the road?  It is black and yellow, and it wasn't our visitor's Jeep.  It wasn't Stinger either.we are still looking around Jay's shop for all the parts.  Wait a minute, some of the parts ended up on QUEEN BEE!  Her inaugural ride was into the trails at Crestview.  Nancy didn't want the club to see it because she didn't want to be embarrassed.  No need Nancy, Jay built a good one, even if you couldn't wait a full ride to put it on its side.  Jay said something about not being able to reach the pedals. The good news is, NO DAMAGE!  And the official proclamation from Jay, "Yeah, it's a good Jeep, but not better than Stinger".  (But Jay, where is Stinger??)

Upcoming Events:

Kid's Ride - Chris G. leading.  Big Kahuna's.  August 17th.  Those traveling from Pensacola area meet P'cola side of the 3-mile bridge 8:00 and roll at 8:30.  Those to the west, meet in Navarre Park, at 8:30 and roll with the P'cola group at 9:00.  Club will pay for club members kids, Chris needs a head count no later than Aug 10th.

Planning for an exploratory ride to Eglin in October, AFTER we get passes.  Annual passes expire 30 September and all riders over 16 years old need a pass.

Club Ride - Chris G. leading.  Blackwater.  Meet at the BK in Milton at 12:30, roll at 1:00 PM.  It will be an afternoon ride so Jay can go to church.

Camping Trip - Sep 20-22.  Bear Lake.  Chris G. to lead.  $12.00/site w/ hook-ups.  Multiple tents on a site OK,

Jay whined about riding on night rides.  We will have a night ride in his honor, providing we get a good place to ride.

Mike noted a need to re-order T-shirts.  See him for what's left.

Tim Schelle earned the Nickname "Boy Scout".  We think it fits!!!  Although, he was verbally thrashed for not fixing the shifter cables. Chris Gahimer did not make it out unscaved - Clutch slipping, heavy rain & wiper quit.

New Business:

Review of previous months activities:

09/14/2002.  Beach Ride/Cookout.  Cancelled Due to Tropical Storm Hanna.  What a big bag of wind!!!!!

09/20/2002.  Camping Trip @ Bear Lake.  3 tents & 3 Campers. 12 Jeeps for the Saturday rides.  Beautiful weather.  Trail Riders met in Camp ground @ 10 am rolled @ 10:30.

Due to size of group - Chris Gahimer lead 1/2 the group & Jay Rios lead the other 1/2.  Apparently, Jay needs the definition of "A Ride Leader".  I believe he understands now, maybe.

The ride continued for approximately 3 hours.  Great trails.  Just the right amount of water.  Group broke for lunch @ camp site and headed back out around 3pm.

There was a threat made (by a visitor, of course) to unplug a camper.  Maybe he's just jealous cause we had A/C & he did not!!!!  We're watching you....

There was also some sort of rumor about a visitor which will be nameless... anyway... Mike Rios shared a 2nd moon with brother Jay.  Must have been bright that night - full moon in the sky & the Suburban!!!:)

Queen B had a wonderful day.  Surprising - she went home as clean as she came.  Was Jay as good as he claims - or did he hit the car wash on the way home!?!?!?!!  Only Jay & the Full Moon know for sure!!!!

New Business:

Chris Gahimer will contact Eglin/Jackson Guard to see if we can schedule a time for the club to complete the necessary requirements for the Eglin Passes.  More info @ the Oct meeting.

I have to accept most of the blame for the web site not being updated. In case some of you did not read the last jeep head poll, I have been busy with a race car, getting ready for Tellico, selling a house, buying a house, moving etc. Things are starting to calm down now and if I am lucky I may just have a little free time now.
