Welcomed Visitors:

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer's Report was accepted.

Reviewed minutes from previous meeting.

Old Business:
Ed Stork brought up personalized license plate frames will be available through our sticker manufacturer. Estimated price of $13-$15 each. For more info contact Chris Gahimer.

Club discussed adopt a highway program since our signs are still up. In the past there was very little participation from the club for this program, but we would like to try it again with the new group that is now the club. Chris Gahimer is going to look into doing a test run along our section of the highway.

Motion to change banks due to our current one charging a $10 service fee for checking accounts being under $2,000 was made. Motion as seconded and passed by the club.

Chris brought stickers for the new club members, so Tom, Dwayne and Bobby got theirs, and of course Mike got a new one to replace the old one that was holding the glass together in his CJ.

It was mentioned that we currently do not have a charity for the money we are collecting. This is normally decided at the members Christmas party. Next year we will decide ahead of time which charity we are going to give the money to. This will be a January decision.

New members were voted in, welcome to the club:

  • Lamar & Carla Tillery (03 TJ) was voted in as a new member. We were impressed that Carla would show up to wash cars, but Lamar used some excuse about helping his dad. We of course had to have our dissenting vote courtesy of Chris.
  • Bobby Burkett (75 CJ-5) was voted in as a new member. It being almost yellow earned a quick vote from Jay, and of course it's a CJ. We of course had to have our dissenting vote courtesy of Chris due to the Taz sticker.

Glinda informed the club to never trust Jay. Something about him being a....

October Events:
3-5 October - Club Camping Trip to Claud D. Kelly State Park. North of Atmore. Craig Morris - Lead. Saturday was real dusty on the trail, but no breakage except for Craig discovering that his drive shaft was bent. The highlight of the trail ride was Paul getting to play with his favorite thing. He just had to play with a 6' Rattlesnake that was on the side of the road. The snake wasn't as happy about this as Paul was, let's just say that no one really wanted to ride with Paul after that. Camping weather was great the entire weekend and the campgrounds invited us back anytime. A small group headed back out on Sunday to do a little more exploring. Nothing super interesting was discovered, except that soft sand along the rivers edge will get a Jeep stuck, right Dwayne.

18 October - Holt ride. Tom Leonard - Lead. Brian Taylor - Co-lead. This was a great ride through the woods. First stop was for lunch at a small stream. Tom decided that he needed to clean his tires off so he drove in. Well not to be out done a couple others decided to drive across. So not to let anyone down, Ron drove his Jeep across. A few more Jeeps came across and after a little picture taking everyone drove back across. Ron being real smart stayed and took pictures of everyone going across. Then he proceeded across and got really stuck trying to get out. After 1 winch attempt, 1 mangled exhaust, Ron was finally able to winch himself up and then Dwayne pulled him sideways out of the hole. I guess there is something to say about tires bigger than 31's when you are the last guy. After a vain attempt to get Ron's exhaust fixed everyone else went on to play in a little wash out, where 1 visitor managed to get to much speed on a hill, found a hole and rolled his jeep over. No injuries, just a banged up windshield and a lot of fun picking up all the things that fell out. I guess turning over a jeep to find the spare change isn't to smart.

New Business:
No luck on information for Adopt a Highway.

Milton Parade is a no go.

Redneck Parade - Paul Woodyard - Lead, Dwayne Morris Co-lead. Jeep owner is responsible for everything in this parade. Parade is December 14th in chmuckla, at 2:00pm starts to line up at noon. See Candace Woodyard about beads and stuff. Need to order candy and beads by November 15th estimated cost $35. Either order through Candace or bring your own. Bring enough for a 2 hours parade.

Some estimated cost items:
24 snowman necklaces or rings - $2.95
50pc Holiday glow bracelet - $34.95
100pc Mardi Gras bead assortment - $19.95
90 Santa pops - $4.95

Plan to get there 2 hours before parade starts to get lined up. The bet is on how long it takes before Paul breaks down. Entrance fee is believed to be $2 or a canned good. This is for charity. More info, meeting time and place to be review at next meeting.

Need to slow down on trail rides. Members watch your visitors. Members if you need to leave early and have a guest please pass on the responsibility for that guest. Members need to watch everyone and bring to the ride leaders attention any unsafe, hazardous, or destructive actions. You do not have to tell the ride leader before you stop something. If you see something that is wrong, correct it and inform the ride leader.

Ron will create a ride leader cheat sheet, for drivers meeting, etc...

Vote passed on renewal of United 4 wheel drive membership.

It was noted that some of the recent rides were held up waiting on people to get there. Club reiterated that we roll on time, if your late catch up if you can.

Jay & Mike when to Birmingham (Gray Rock) for a trail ride. "It was Nasty!" - Jay Rios. Lots of breakage on Queen B. Mike provided some beautiful pictures of a destroyed Queen B. Jay even destroyed one of Mikes tires for him since he hadn't broken anything. There are areas for camping. Trail ride in the area is possible, but must have a group of more than 10 Jeeps.

Mike Sears brought up Wheelin in the Country. An off road recreation park in Summertown, TN. We shouldn't mention that Mike's all over the Memorial Day album on their website.

Luan To thanked the club for the flower arrangement.

Special thanks to Jay for recommending a good exhaust repair shop, Superior on Barrancas. Some of us trust you no matter what Glinda says.

New members were voted in, welcome to the club: Chris Ammons was the one dissenting vote because she had to go potty.

  • Brian & Robin Taylor (03 TJ/02 WJ) were voted in as a new member. It was noted that they had a really cool bumper sticker.
  • George Hooper (95 YJ) was voted in as a new member. Great to have off road, even if he has to try everything in 2wd with stock tires

November Events:
15 Nov - Crestview Ride. Luan To - Lead, Norm Kressler - Co-lead. Hopefully this time Norm drives home afterwards. Meet on the dirt road behind the Crestview flea market at 9:30, roll at 10:00.
