Welcomed Visitors:

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer's Report was accepted.

Reviewed minutes from previous meeting.

Old Business:
Car Wash has been cancelled due to McDonald's management change. Chris Gahimer is currently looking for an alternate location to hold a car wash.

Chris reported that the trip to Talladega was good, but very adventuresome. Included a new truck for Pam. The old Chevy finally gave up the ghost of the transmission so Chris had to drive a Ford the rest of the way. He did mention how much he really Love's FORD's. If anyone wants to do NASCAR trips, contact Chris for more details.

Glen Greenough no access to the pit near his home in Crestview. He did mention the future possibility of an ORV park out at Skavan point.

Review of safety equipment for Vehicles on a trail ride.
These items are for your safety.
1. CB Radio (Not mandatory, but recommended)
2. Fire Extinguisher
3. Tow Hooks (properly mounted)
4. Seat Belts (worn at all times)
5. Jack (capable of lifting the vehicle to change a tire)
6. Spare Tire or Plugs

Other Items that should be brought.
1. Bug Repellant
2. Suntan Lotion
3. Spare clothes/ Towel
4. First Aid Kit
5. Tools and repair parts as necessary

It was also mentioned that children should be watched at all times. If you bring them you are responsible for keeping an eye on them. Some of the occurrences on the trail involve winching and vehicles that are off-balance. These situations are dangerous.

2 new member's were voted in:
* John & Amber Bates (98 TJ). The decision was swayed by his ability to destroy his wife's personalized plate and identify her as his "Old Lady" at the meeting. We wonder what it cost him later.
* Joel Rios (82 CJ-8). Hard decision on voting in the garage warming grocery getter, but after a compromise of him having to tie a Winn-Dixie bag to his antenna for the next trail ride, we voted him in.

May Events:
05/17/03 - Blackwater Exploratory. Ron Seegert Lead. Tim Schelle Co-Lead. There was a total of 17 Jeeps on this ride. We originally thought about splitting up the Jeeps, but decided to keep them all together. Mike spent most of the day complaining about not finding any CJ trails. Jay managed to get the finger wave from the ranger on our way in to the forest. We were not bothered all day, because we stayed on the designated roads. Ron did manage to ensure that everyone had the skill of turning around 17 Jeeps in the woods down pat. Just a nice leisurely ride through the woods. We didn't find anything this outing. We thought that we had made it out without breaking anything, but one visitor's Jeep went home after experiencing fuel problems, and of course our fearless Chairman who blew the lower radiator hose. We stopped at the river and let the kids play in the water for a while (Jay fixed his hose) and then we split the group up with those that were headed home and a few of us stayed out to explore a couple more trails in the area. Nothing else was located.

New Business:
At the April Meeting one of our waitress was injured during a fall in the club meeting. She cracked 2 ribs, and suffered a cut to her inner lip. Everyone is reminded to watch your children and they should not be playing on the floor under tables. Mike and Chris are arranging for flowers to be sent.

Restated the need for Fire Extinguishers on all trail rides for each vehicle participating. Jay commented on the need to carry the larger fire extinguishers since the small ones do not provide adequate capacity to extinguish and engine fire. It was also noted that it is only appropriate for the owner of the vehicle to reimburse the others if their fire extinguishers are used.

Escambia Search And Rescue (ESAR) - Mike Walter talked to Jim Walters (no not related) about the club becoming an Honorary member. ESAR has meetings every Wednesday at the old Ensley Fire Dept. More information of follow.

June 28th - Car Wash at Sam's Auto Center. This car wash is for charity and maximum club participation is required. Starts at 10:00 and goes until 3:00. This will be finalized at next meeting.

Greg Nelson from Don Dawson Jeep is looking at sponsorship from Jeep/ Chrysler, wants to get the club involved. This is just in the beginning stages, and he will approach the club with anything that comes up. Trying to get the dealership and Jeep more involved with the local Jeep clubs. More information as it becomes available.

"Shut Up Nancy!"
